SICK

Have totally NO VOICE!! That feeling is just the strangest thing isn't it? You go to speak like normal and all that comes out is first a squeek then a wisper. Not liking it at all!!! Not to good for the waitress business either as I HAD to call in sick tonight. But other than speaking it worked out well as its also my hub's birthday today along with sweet pepper's! Needless to say I was working on the scarf tonight that I had planned on giving him for this birthday! Good thing I bought other gifts huh? Well christmas is coming, hopefully not to fast!

Its a quick blog tonight. Taking some asprin then off to bed!

goodies

Posted a picture of all the great things I received from sp6 so take a look! I have asked marianne to help with making a pr. of socks on the addi needle I received. She said since its a 5 I shouldn't have to much trouble, so going to tackle that on tues. I love the yarn sent! What a nice color brown. I am into brown lately. I hoping to master this as I have lots of trouble with the double points. Too many needles!!! The roving was so soft and beautiful as well. AND, the BOX!! What a clever thing, I just loved the color orange and the CROW!! How cute!!! Its always amazing to me how clever people are. I am not so crafty clever but I sure love to receive crafty things. Thanks, thanks, thanks!!! I will sure enjoy everything sent you can be sure of that!!!

knitters poem

Knitter's Christmas Eve

KNITTERS CHRISTMAS EVE

'Twas the night before Christmas and all around me
Was unfinished knitting not under the tree.
The stockings weren't hung by the chimney with care
'Cause the heels and toes had not a stitch there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
But I had not finished the caps for their heads.
Dad was asleep; he was no help at all,
And the sweater for him was six inches too small,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I put down my needles to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tripped over my yarn and fell down with a crash.
The tangle of yarn that lay deep as the snow
Reminded me how much I still had to go.
Out on my lawn I heard such a noise,
I thought it would wake both Dad and the boys.
And though I was tired, my brain a bit thick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
But what I heard then left me perplex-ed,
For not a name I heard was what I expected,
"Move, Ashford! Move, Lopi! Move, Addi and Clover!
Move, Reynolds! Move Starmore! Move Froelich --move over
Paton, don't circle 'round; stand in the line.
Come now, you sheep will work out just fine!
I know this is hard; it's just your first year,
I'd hate to go back to eight tiny reindeer."
I peered over the sill; what I saw was amazing,
Eight wooly sheep on my lawn all a-grazing.
And then, in a twinkle, I heard at the door
Santa's feet coming across the porch floor.
I rose from my knees and got back on my feet,
And as I turned 'round St Nick I did meet.
He was dressed all in wool from his head to his toe,
And his clothes were hand knit from above to below.
A bright Fairisle sweater he wore on his back,
And his toys were all stuffed in an Aran knit sack.
His cap was a wonder of bobbles and lace
A beautiful frame for his rosy red face.
The scarf 'round his neck could have stretched for a mile,
And the socks peeking over his boots were Argyle.
The back of his mittens bore an intricate cable.
And suddenly on one I espied a small label,
"S.C." was duplicate stitched on the cuff,
And I asked, "Hey, Nick, did you knit all this stuff?"
He proudly replied, "Ho, ho, ho, yes I did.
I learned how to knit when I was a kid."
He was chubby and plump, a quite well-dressed old man,
And I laughed to myself, for I'd thought up a plan.
I flashed him a grin and jumped up in the air,
And the next thing he knew, he was tied to a chair,
He spoke not a word, but looked in his lap
Where I'd laid my needles and yarn for a cap.
He quickly began knitting, first one cap then two,
For the first time I thought I might really get through.
He put heels in the stockings and toes in some socks.
While I sat back drinking scotch on the rocks.
So quickly like magic his needles they flew
That he was all finished by quarter to two.
He sprang for his sleigh when I let him go free,
And over his shoulder he looked back at me,
And I heard him exclaim as he sailed past the moon,
"Next year start your knitting sometime around June!"

stolen from marianne, but I really liked it!

the BOY

17 yr. old daughter invited "the boy" for dinner. hmmmmmmmmm, what a nice kid! She certainly outdid herself this time. I don't want to tell her I like him to much or she will automatically assume there must be something totally wrong with him and dump him! What manners the boy had, please, thank-you, dinner was great, you're a great cook, brought 3 movies he thought I might like to watch, 2 of which I have seen, and liked, and really liked the 3rd one. Well, we can keep our fingers crossed!! Now he has a invite for thanksgiving dinner as well so I am glad we got the getting to know him out of the way ahead of time!

Have been trying to work on the hubby's scarf I have been promising him him for 2 years and his bday is 11/30, so there is still time! Have not heard a single thing from the one who has me for sp6! My sp6 really enjoyed her basket of goodies. Am so glad as its hard to know what people you don't know will really like. Went to a craft show today and found 3 things to buy for people for christmas!! YEA!! What a pretty day it was too! Lots of sun and not as cold or snowy as its been!! Just got home after taking "the boy" home so am off to bed as george's is closed but worked at the darn restaurant 4 days in a row and tomorrow nite too! But hey "christmas is comming" :)

CLOSED FOR THE SEASON

Wow, I checked and have not posted in quite a while, oops!! Well, anyway Georges has finally closed for the season as of 10/31/05. YEA!!!!!!!!!!! Now its just cleaning and putting everything away, YUCK! We took a break tho and went to boston, ma wed. and just got back tonight! Had a great time, went to salem, essex, glouster, boston and cape cod. Whew! Had supurb weather the whole time, sunny and high 50's, low 60's. Also another benefit was the leaves, they had full great color. However on returning tonight, we must have had some winds while we were gone as there is not a leave to be found anywhere, especially on any trees! Of course they are all in my gutters, i am sure. The animals are all fine eventho there were a few glitches, as my son calling at midnight on fri. to say the dog choked on something and fell over and he gave her a himlich and she rallied and was fine, and him calling today at 3 to say the 1 parrot got out and was flying everywhere. Of course got into my room and they is stuff all over, but all is well as my son captured him and got him back. Always something huh? Got a surprise package from my sp5, just a little something she had forgot! A beautiful needle holder in my favorite color of orange, wasn't that sweet? Also got my sp6's package out last week and she should receive it today. Still nothing from my sp6, but I'm sure its on its way. No knitting while gone, no time, but hope to start up again this week. Am going to really try to get to knit nite on thurs. Haven't been in ages it seems. Well thats all for tonight. Will try to post some pics soon.
