SICK

Have totally NO VOICE!! That feeling is just the strangest thing isn't it? You go to speak like normal and all that comes out is first a squeek then a wisper. Not liking it at all!!! Not to good for the waitress business either as I HAD to call in sick tonight. But other than speaking it worked out well as its also my hub's birthday today along with sweet pepper's! Needless to say I was working on the scarf tonight that I had planned on giving him for this birthday! Good thing I bought other gifts huh? Well christmas is coming, hopefully not to fast!

Its a quick blog tonight. Taking some asprin then off to bed!

Goodies from sp6 Posted by Picasa

goodies

Posted a picture of all the great things I received from sp6 so take a look! I have asked marianne to help with making a pr. of socks on the addi needle I received. She said since its a 5 I shouldn't have to much trouble, so going to tackle that on tues. I love the yarn sent! What a nice color brown. I am into brown lately. I hoping to master this as I have lots of trouble with the double points. Too many needles!!! The roving was so soft and beautiful as well. AND, the BOX!! What a clever thing, I just loved the color orange and the CROW!! How cute!!! Its always amazing to me how clever people are. I am not so crafty clever but I sure love to receive crafty things. Thanks, thanks, thanks!!! I will sure enjoy everything sent you can be sure of that!!!

knitters poem

Knitter's Christmas Eve

KNITTERS CHRISTMAS EVE

'Twas the night before Christmas and all around me
Was unfinished knitting not under the tree.
The stockings weren't hung by the chimney with care
'Cause the heels and toes had not a stitch there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
But I had not finished the caps for their heads.
Dad was asleep; he was no help at all,
And the sweater for him was six inches too small,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I put down my needles to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tripped over my yarn and fell down with a crash.
The tangle of yarn that lay deep as the snow
Reminded me how much I still had to go.
Out on my lawn I heard such a noise,
I thought it would wake both Dad and the boys.
And though I was tired, my brain a bit thick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
But what I heard then left me perplex-ed,
For not a name I heard was what I expected,
"Move, Ashford! Move, Lopi! Move, Addi and Clover!
Move, Reynolds! Move Starmore! Move Froelich --move over
Paton, don't circle 'round; stand in the line.
Come now, you sheep will work out just fine!
I know this is hard; it's just your first year,
I'd hate to go back to eight tiny reindeer."
I peered over the sill; what I saw was amazing,
Eight wooly sheep on my lawn all a-grazing.
And then, in a twinkle, I heard at the door
Santa's feet coming across the porch floor.
I rose from my knees and got back on my feet,
And as I turned 'round St Nick I did meet.
He was dressed all in wool from his head to his toe,
And his clothes were hand knit from above to below.
A bright Fairisle sweater he wore on his back,
And his toys were all stuffed in an Aran knit sack.
His cap was a wonder of bobbles and lace
A beautiful frame for his rosy red face.
The scarf 'round his neck could have stretched for a mile,
And the socks peeking over his boots were Argyle.
The back of his mittens bore an intricate cable.
And suddenly on one I espied a small label,
"S.C." was duplicate stitched on the cuff,
And I asked, "Hey, Nick, did you knit all this stuff?"
He proudly replied, "Ho, ho, ho, yes I did.
I learned how to knit when I was a kid."
He was chubby and plump, a quite well-dressed old man,
And I laughed to myself, for I'd thought up a plan.
I flashed him a grin and jumped up in the air,
And the next thing he knew, he was tied to a chair,
He spoke not a word, but looked in his lap
Where I'd laid my needles and yarn for a cap.
He quickly began knitting, first one cap then two,
For the first time I thought I might really get through.
He put heels in the stockings and toes in some socks.
While I sat back drinking scotch on the rocks.
So quickly like magic his needles they flew
That he was all finished by quarter to two.
He sprang for his sleigh when I let him go free,
And over his shoulder he looked back at me,
And I heard him exclaim as he sailed past the moon,
"Next year start your knitting sometime around June!"

stolen from marianne, but I really liked it!

the BOY

17 yr. old daughter invited "the boy" for dinner. hmmmmmmmmm, what a nice kid! She certainly outdid herself this time. I don't want to tell her I like him to much or she will automatically assume there must be something totally wrong with him and dump him! What manners the boy had, please, thank-you, dinner was great, you're a great cook, brought 3 movies he thought I might like to watch, 2 of which I have seen, and liked, and really liked the 3rd one. Well, we can keep our fingers crossed!! Now he has a invite for thanksgiving dinner as well so I am glad we got the getting to know him out of the way ahead of time!

Have been trying to work on the hubby's scarf I have been promising him him for 2 years and his bday is 11/30, so there is still time! Have not heard a single thing from the one who has me for sp6! My sp6 really enjoyed her basket of goodies. Am so glad as its hard to know what people you don't know will really like. Went to a craft show today and found 3 things to buy for people for christmas!! YEA!! What a pretty day it was too! Lots of sun and not as cold or snowy as its been!! Just got home after taking "the boy" home so am off to bed as george's is closed but worked at the darn restaurant 4 days in a row and tomorrow nite too! But hey "christmas is comming" :)

CLOSED FOR THE SEASON

Wow, I checked and have not posted in quite a while, oops!! Well, anyway Georges has finally closed for the season as of 10/31/05. YEA!!!!!!!!!!! Now its just cleaning and putting everything away, YUCK! We took a break tho and went to boston, ma wed. and just got back tonight! Had a great time, went to salem, essex, glouster, boston and cape cod. Whew! Had supurb weather the whole time, sunny and high 50's, low 60's. Also another benefit was the leaves, they had full great color. However on returning tonight, we must have had some winds while we were gone as there is not a leave to be found anywhere, especially on any trees! Of course they are all in my gutters, i am sure. The animals are all fine eventho there were a few glitches, as my son calling at midnight on fri. to say the dog choked on something and fell over and he gave her a himlich and she rallied and was fine, and him calling today at 3 to say the 1 parrot got out and was flying everywhere. Of course got into my room and they is stuff all over, but all is well as my son captured him and got him back. Always something huh? Got a surprise package from my sp5, just a little something she had forgot! A beautiful needle holder in my favorite color of orange, wasn't that sweet? Also got my sp6's package out last week and she should receive it today. Still nothing from my sp6, but I'm sure its on its way. No knitting while gone, no time, but hope to start up again this week. Am going to really try to get to knit nite on thurs. Haven't been in ages it seems. Well thats all for tonight. Will try to post some pics soon.

CLEANING------YUCK

Can you not stand how when you decide to clean something it simply keeps on going and going with no end in sight????????????????? One thing constantly leads to another!!!!!! Take my family room for example. Decided yesterday, hey, should wash the curtains and the windows, sounds easy huh? Well that entailed moving plants, attending to them, moving birds, which I may add are PIGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1 mynah and 1 african grey you wouldn't think would make such a mess huh??? They had a mess everywere, on the plants, furniture, walls, floors, rugs! Yuck, what a mess. Finally got ALL THAT accomplised, then of course the 2 cages looked like crap, literely, so more stuff, find a cage to put the mynah in, drag his cage outside, hose it down, wash it, dry it, haul it back in, then hmmmmmmmm, the scaredly cat mr. grey, chased him all over the house finally caught him, put him in the spare cage, dragged his cage out etc.etc.etc. Whew!!!!!!!!!!!! What work!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All to wash the damn windows and curtains!!! Well at least it looks good at the end. But now my back is KILLING ME!

Have not had much time for knitting at all. Georges will be closing in 17 days, YEA!!!! and then will get to those projects that are calling my name.

Taking 4 motrins and off to bed!

Hemlock

What a fun day at hemlock fiberfest! So many goodies. Mar and I were both good tho and didn't go crazy. Both of us got a few goodies for our secret pals. Mar also decided to try needle felting. She tried to convince me to try it as well but I resisted!! Too many projects already to finish without trying something new. Of course once she completes her felting project I'll be like darn!!!! should have bought the stuff, right????? Oh well, there is always next year at hemlock!

Off to both jobs today! :)

FINALLY!!!

Yes, I finally got back to this blog after awhile away! Have just been so busy!! But anyhow, got a few pictures posted of some projects and some pets. :) My problem lately is I just can't seem to finish anything!!!!!!!!!!!!! I work on a knitting project for awhile then can't seem to get back to it. Possibly all I need is time. George's market will be slowing down now. Corn and peaches will soon be over then a quiet time until pumpkins start. Hopefully will get something done. I had decided to just knit not felt a bag and I am not liking the look of it. Looks like a sweater formed into a bag! I told Mar I need to somehow make it into a sweater for pepper for the winter. The color would look great on her. I am sure dog sweaters require 4 double points. hmmmmmmmmmm, not to good with those. Mar and I went to the yarn store last week and fell in love with a shanghi silk that the owner had made into bags. That stuff is awesome, and what colors!!!!

Mar and I are off for a field trip to Hemlock, NY for a fiberfest!! Yea!! A day off from George's!! Should be a fun day even if it rains. We have been having great weather, of course rained today, supposed to tomorrow and be cool. We won't let it stop us from finding yarn, sheep goodies, etc. Last year we fell in love with a cashmere goat. SO CUTE!! and think of the yarn. Problem was no where to keep it darn it!! Won't forget the camera to take some photo's of the fest.

Out knit group was going to meet us there and mar said everyone had something come up so none are going. We will miss them!!

Heard from the person who has me as their pal. What a great person with a lot of enthusiam. Looking forward to this SP6, I will have more time for it than sp5 in the middle of corn season!! Speaking of sp6, will have to look for some goodies at the fiberfest. Wonder if my secret pal likes goats???????

Off to finish some laundry then bed.

Almost done

I am almost..............done with that darn bag I have been working on it seems like forever. Of course its my fault as I wanted to have the handle longggggggggg, which of course means more and more knitting! Am now to the hard part, putting it together! Have chosen a great fabric to line the bag with, just need to put it together. Oh marianne where are you????????? Just kidding, I will do it if it kills me!! HA! Probably will as I prick my finger and bleed to death. Sewing is not my gig by any means. Ran off from george's market on thurs. and went to brockport cause I had to have a new shade but of course had to order the one I wanted so back to brockport in about 3 wks. Dragged my friend Linda with me and stopped at knit nite to drop off some things and Marianne gave me a great amish bag she picked up while on vacation. Lots of room for knitting projects!!!! After the bag of course. Well off to tackle the bag.....

knit nite at jen's

well only took me about 2 hrs to figure out sending pictures to this blog!!!! Wouldn't work for the longest time but think I have it down pat now. :) Isn't Jen's store great? All had a fine time at knit nite. The girls that go are just the friendlest!!! Am going to take a crochet class soon from there..........hmmmm.......finally just about mastered the knitting so hope I can tackle this and be able to do it. Lyn is teaching the class so that should be helpful as she seems to be able to knit, crochet, sew just about anything! Just like someone else I know!!!!! Mar!!!!! Well my back is killing me from sitting at this darn computer so off to cook something for the hub then off to bed!

hmmmmmmmmmmm

well, looked at mar's blog and see she has tagged me!! Will certanily have to think about that one! And by the way everything she said about herself is true!!! Tried to blog last nite and there was such a storm the power went off after I had written a huge post but wasn't done of course, so completly lost the whole thing!! Now am tired tonight so it will have to be a short post! Almost done with the purse I have been working on. Now that I am in the last leg of it I am tired of it, hey that might be one idiosyncrosy of mine!! but its true, just have the strap to do and can't make any headway with it, just seems like more work knitting just 6 stiches to a row, you would think it would be easier but........ anyhow, I have got to finish it before knit nite because I am hoping one of the fine knitters that go will show me how to sew the darn thing together!!!!! Also have to get a picture of the felted bag I am dying to make. It has tons of different color yarns in it. hmmm, 6 stiches is sounding better now! Possibly just a few more rows before bed............

Here is a shot of my super gift sent from the person that has me as her secret pal Posted by Picasa

HOT HOT HOT

Here we are again in the 90's along with the humidity! Its crazy weather, its NEVER like this here. Worked all day in the heat selling plants and produce, came home and what a GREAT surprise was waiting for me in the mailbox!!!!! A package from my secret pal! And what a package it was! Inside was some BEAUTIFUL roving in these 2 great colors!! And she went on to say that the one was made from corn!! How funny is that considering our business is George's Sweet Corn! Along with this beautiful and so soft roving was a beginners book on how to drop spindle!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! I bought a beautiful hand made one at the Hemlock fiberfest last october and got a quick lesson but of course I forgot how to a few days later so.....just what I needed was a beginners book on how to do it! And last but certainly not least was some great sav for sore muscles which I seem to have every day! I also waitress 3 nites a week at a busy restaurant which I hate in the summer working 7 days at George's but I need it in the winter after we close to be able to buy yarn etc. so anyway the sav can be put to many uses depending on what job what day!!! Thanks so much secret pal! You are the best! I took some pictures and am learning how to be able to post them on this blog so hopefully will get them on in the next few days. Took a day off fri. and Mar and I went on a field trip to a great yarn shop in rochester, ny called Spirit Works. Got a few goodies for my secret pal. Wanted to take some pictures but it was raining BUCKETS that day. Got a few sheep pictures for my new room, am still on the hunt for a wicker desk to put the computer on and finally found some antique sock stretchers for the room but I plan on using them also when I wash the great socks mar made me for last christmas.

Off to clean bird cages and put the garbage out then off to bed with 2 fans blasting!

New Seatcushions (hopefully)

Yea, Mar is going to kill me but I had to have different fabric on the wicker!! And the colors are out of this world!!!!!! I just couldn't stand the colors on the old ones and if she wants to have a knit nite this winter the old stuff just wouldn't have done!

I have been doing a few test runs on the digital camera so now I just have to figure out how to get them on the computer, and onto my blog. Could be tricky I am sure.

Anyway, tomorrow her and I are going to this GREAT yarn store in rochester, need to pick up a little something for my secret pal and will do a little antiquing along the way. This of course means a day off from the store, YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Daughter meg is giving me a hard time about working in the am for me but hey she was away for 4 days with a friends family to cedar point so....... its payback! Hope to get some great shots of this yarn store, it fabulous, everything a knitters heart could want.

Been Remiss

Yes I know I have been totally remiss in blogging!! It has just been too HOT!!! We are sweltering in this heat as we are totally NOT used to 90's. Usually this time of year its 70 at best. But anyway went with my friend Mar to the yarn shop today as she wanted to check out yarn for a summer bag. Of course now I want to make some kind of summer bag with a yummy lime green or orange but can't decide what. She has a pattern but its looks to hard for me and I don't have too much time this time of year to get in over my head, especially when you would like to carry it before winter! HA! So....... I am in the market for a easy pattern for a easy bag with a nice cotton yarn for it. I am working still on my felted bag but WAY to hot to drag that thing out. At least with cotton it will be cool.

Have got my room worked on some more and its turning out nicely. Dragged home some antique white wicker furniture my hub had stored to sell and looks great in the room with a nice comfortable rocker to knit in!! But....always something.....I am not crazy about the fabric that the pillows are made out of, kinda a lite blue and cream...hmmmm, so that will be another issue to hunt out some new fabric that won't be to expensive, but until then I can live with it.

Finally broke down and bought a digital camera, (now if I can figure out to use it) I am hoping to get some shots of some of my knitting projects, the pets, and the room for others to see. The salesman talked me into a kodak which I gather is easy to use so we will see.

Read some of the book my secret pal sent me. What a great book, thanks again!

Well off to fix a beaded ankle bracelet I made for Mar which needs a adjustment or so, and if time a new one for me. :)

Big FAT Moon

I am sitting at the computer in my sorta new room looking out the window at a HUGE full moon. Its so pretty!!!! Of course I can't bend to much as my back is KILLING me from working on the DARN room! Picking up and vaccuming and scraping junk off walls and ceilings is MUCH TOO MUCH work! And my back is not thanking me. Of well I need to look ahead at the end result which I am sure I will adore. Well thats all for tonight, off to bed

Gift

Wow, I got my first gift from my secret pal. How exciting!!! Nothing like looking in the mail box and seeing a package for you and having no idea what it could be. When opened I found a really great book Knit Lit by Linda Roghaar & Molly Wolf. I can't wait to dig in and start reading it. I can't remember if the questionaire had anything about liking to read but I LOVE to read so that was a really great gift! THANKS AGAIN Secret Pal :) I am now off to tackle my daughter's old room, she moved upstairs to the bigger room my son had before moving out so I am going to make this room into a sitting, sewing, knitting room, however, she managed to leave half of her old "stuff" in that room so needs a lot of reorganizing and cleaning before I can fill it up with "good stuff" ha! as in my stuff!

dance recital

I know, I know, I should definatly be in bed as tomorrow I have to be up at 6:30 for the market thing and might have to drive out early to pick up strawberries BUT - I am fooling around on the computer! I have heard from the person who has me for a secret pal!!!!!! Yea! I found the e-mail of all things in my spam folder! Crazy huh? My daughter had her dance recital tonight, what a great job the woman who runs this dance school does, so professional!!!! I felt very sad seeing my meg dance tho, she seemed so grown up, which of course she is, she is 17 going on 30! I can remember her first recital when she was 4 yrs old and how excited she and we were. And just like the old saying goes, it just seems like yesterday! I am not sure where the time goes but it sure does go! But it really hit home watching the little ones do their dances and how cute they all were! A friend of ours went with us tonight and my hub and I had bought a little flower arrangement for meg and he showed up with a HUGE red rose arrangement, how embarrassing for us huh?? Well he meant well but still........................... gotta go to bed now, can't see anymore to type.

FREEZING

ok Buffalo weather is for the birds!! (and I am sure they don't like it either) Last weekend and the 1st part of this week it was 90 o and you couldn't stand it cause it was so HOT and HUMID. Everyone here was running to the stores to find cool clothes. People were not buying plants from us either because it was to hot to plant! Now within 2 days its freezing! High today in the 50's, if that isn't crazy I don't know what is! Yup today was bad, 50 and pouring rain everywhere, so of course people weren't buying plants today either cause it was to cold and wet to plant! Well enough grousing about the weather (what can you do anyway)????

Still haven't heard a peep from the person who has me as their secret pal so will write to the person in charge to see whats happening!

Finally took a afternoon off, the first in weeks it seems, and got a color, haircut, pedicure! Just lazed around the shop doing nothing!!!!!! It was great! Started a new book, should have brought the knitting, but that would have required too much concentration and after yesterday, got up at 4:30 am went with the hub to sell flowers at a flea market, got back, worked at the crazy restaurant (on the outside patio of course) ran my a...s....s. off and got home at 11:30pm just in time to go to bed and get up today to work the market again! Aghhhh but sheer bliss at the hairdressers! :) My feet have been thanking me all nite!

Well off to find some winter bed atire and rest the little piggies untill tomorrow!

secret pal??

still haven't heard anything from the secret pal who has me, hopefully someone has me, will give it a few more days then inquire. well the market finally has its new drive after weeks of delay, its funny (sort of) but people always say that after our huge fire last year, well everything just worked out fine, hmmmmmmm i guess that they don't realize all the hard work and fustrating events that got us to where we are.

Now that everything is settling in however I will have some more time so hopefully i can get back to KNITTING!!!!!! That darn bag is preying on my mind and am itchin to start that poncho. Did go to the knitting store and bought a goodie or two for my secret pal. hope she likes them, have to get them in the mail this week!

Finally, GARDENING, love it but what a PAIN, literly in the back and legs!!!! UGH

some asprin and off to bed!

Finally a new post

Well, realized a week has gone by and no posts!! I must really try to find the time to get going on this. I also have to learn how to put buttons and pictures on it also. When I look at other blogs they are just so cute! Has been a very busy week between the 3 jobs. Am trying and trying to work and get done my felted bag!! I recently bought some beautiful varigated wool and silk yarn to start a shawl, I am sure that will be a HUGE project but I saw one done up at the wooly lamb in e. aurora and it was just BEAUTIFUL! Well not until that crazy bag gets done!! Have joined the secret pal 5, I am so excited!! What a fun thing to do. A friend bought some orange cotton yarn to make a sweater, I wonder how it would look in a small purse?? Intriguing!! Well am off to bed as I have to take my little sweetie pepper to the vet tomorrow as she is suddenly "under the weather" Hope everything goes ok. Till then.....

Better get on the stick!!

Have finally got onto the computer and have realized that I haven't posted in a week!!! Its been a crazy week between all 3 jobs! Have been trying to work on my felted bag that I would love to get done and felted! If I could then I could get my slippers that Marianne has made for me and is waiting for me so we can felt both items. There just is never enough free time, last weekend went to a first communion, then mother's day, work, had a day off today and went to a retirement luncheon for a very dear friend who had to retire early due to massive county layoffs we have had here.

My friend is planning making a sweater using a orange cotton yarn. As soon as I heard that, I was wondering what I could make, am nowhere near attempting any sweaters, hmmmm, what about a cute little bag?? Not felted, just knitted. Sounds like a plan if they still have the yarn. Of course, they would be discontinuing it!

Now tomorrow have to take my dear little dog pepper to the vet as she is suddenly "under the weather", hope its not to serious!!! Luckily the vet is squeezing us in tomorrow!

Till then.....

What a LONG DAY

Had a nasty busy day today, ran around all morning doing errands for the hub, went to work at the office for 4 hours, drove the hub's friend home who didn't have a car today 1hr and 1/2 later got back from taking him, helped the hub pack his truck to do the flea market tomorrow, finally got dinner about 8, went back and drove the truck to the flea market, unloaded and finally got home at 10 YUCK>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Oh well, all in a day's work huh? Of course as soon as my key was in the door there was a chorus of hello's from all the feathered friends pepper was prancing under both my feet, but hey its nice to know you were missed!!!!!

My good friend, you all know, the one who taught me to knit, came over and cleaned for me today and it was GREAT to walk into a CLEAN HOUSE YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEE, all clean of course except where that messy macaw threw all his seeds for me to walk on.

Well, thats all for today, off to bed to wake up at some ungodly hr. to go to the dreaded flea market to help who?? THE HUB!!

Today is the 1st day of my blog

Hi everyone!

A good friend of mine told me about this so I thought I would give it a try! I have 3 birds, a crazy mynahbird named marvin, a very vocal greenwing macaw, sampson and a extremely smart african grey with a not so extremely smart mom who named him Mr. Grey! I also have an adorable 9 lb. female rat terrier named pepper. One of my interests is knitting which the same good friend taught me a yr. or so ago and I fell in love with it!! I go crazy over all the different yarns, of course now I have too many with not enough time to knit them all but lol there is always tomorrow :)

Thanks enough for now, will write again soon.
