Summer in WNY

Us new yorkers cannot complain about not having a summer this year. Its been hot, hot, and humid. Watering all those flowers we sell is a ton of work. Its been so dry. Abnormal for us as it usually rains at least a couple of times a week. This year 3 days in about a month. All the little flowers are just crying for water, EVERY DAY!!!!!! Watering is not good for bursites but its very good for getting a black tan. I don't think in 50 yrs. I have ever been this tan. Thank god they have come up with a spray 50 sps. So easy to spray a couple of times a day rather than all that gook spreading it. At 11:30 tonight its 80 out. Nuts huh??

Got my last gift out to my secret pal today, hope she likes it. Trying to find time to even go to the post office is hard this time of year with working about 70 hrs. a week.

Not to much yarn news, no time and to hot! The nice thing about yarn tho is it patiently waits for you to come back to it with no hard feelings!

Off to bed!

Back again

Hi,

Just haven't had the time. I know poor excuse but its really true!! Have had a couple of rough weeks recently. Had the elbow thing worse again, made a appointment to start physical therapy, joined the local gym our bac, for the arm plus for my osto penia which my dr. informed me , exercise is good to rejenerate the bones. hmmmmmmmm possibly?? Then the nipple!!! Had been bothering me for a couple of weeks, felt weird, strange feelings in it, so back to the dr. he sends me for a mamogram, sonagram, the dr. says ABNORMAL and you need a biopsy right away today!!!! Scary stuff!!!!!! Had to wait a WEEK for the results, called and said its benign!! Whoopee???? I guess. Said won't take the tumor out, have to wait 6 months and then to have all the same repeat tests!! I have severe doubts about the whole thing, so am making an appt. to see a breast surgeon. I want him to look at the results, feel the thing. Hopefully he will take it out. I am told then he will send it again to see test results. I think it will make me feel better about it. I am just unsure about the whole thing. Not to mention the nipple is still killing me regardless of it being benign so we will see. Am calling the breast guy tomorrow. I'll tell you, turning 50 is the PITS. Since dec. when i was 50 have found out I have osto penia, a step away from ostrosposis, bladder problems, and bursites in my elbow, how is that fair???? Now the nipple thing! YUCK!!!!!

BUT, to better things!! My hidden hippo sp send me a lovely cd and some yummy chocolate blueberries! Weird?? Not so, they are delicious!! Thanks hippo!

have started, restarted, restarted the lovely yarn scarf project she sent me last month, just can't get into knitting at the moment, I think too much is on my mind, not to mention opening Georges,., the flower fruit thing my husband and I have. But thanks again hh, I am sure it will be a LOVELY scarf soon!

Off to take a shower then bed! I feel SO DIRTY,. yuck, was really hot today and windy. Mucking around with the flowers and customers, my skin feels GROSS!!!!!!! Can't wait anymore to was and put tons of lotion on. YEA!

STUFFED

OMG, I am so full!! A friend of mine and I went to check out a new restaurant owned by a friend of mines tonight. FULL............but it was super tasty! My friend had stuffed chicken with spinach, cheese and a cream sauce and I had a pasta with steak, portabella mushrooms. Yum, Yum. 2 southern comfort manhattens later and we were good to go! Stopped on our way home at this quaint dessert place my 22 yr. old son works at. Really nice place, old plank floors, old brick walls, with cool spacy modern lights, with cute little tables to sit at. The desserts are to die for there. All homemade. My son treated us with this molten cake served with 3 different ice creams, blueberries, strawberries, pineapple fruits! Also tried a ice wine. Have been dying to try one. Was VERY sweet but good. I am sure I will be up all nite! But was sure worth it!

Back to knitting..........I am working on this gorgeous ribbon yarn to make a scarf out of. It is a funky pink, red, little bit orange. I am doing it in a drop stitch pattern. My arm is feeling MUCH better since getting the cortisone shot. I have to go to the yarn shop in town to get a few goodies for my secret pal tomorrow, can't forget!

Almost forgot!! Hidden Hippo sent me the absolute CUTEST stitch markers! They are teeny, tiny sheep! One of my favorites! They have the most minute adorable faces!! I have them lined up on my desk just so I can look at them. Thanks Hippo!!!!!!!!!!

I should go to bed now, but am totally too full! Possibly a few more rows on the scarf. I really wish I could figure out this photo thing to blog. I would love to post some pics! Any suggestions?? Can't seem to pull them up using the photo thing on the blog and picassa won't send them either anymore. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

BURSITES

Haven't been doing to much knitting or crocheting. My bursites in my elbow has been killing me. One day in nov. 06 I woke up with this terrible pain in my elbow. Never had it before. Went to the dr. in jan. said it was bursites, told me to do an excersise with a 1lb weight, if not better come back. Well went today, he gave me a cortisone shot right in the elbow, OUCH!!!!!! Said I had a 70% chance it would work, if not PT, if not OPERATION to remove the bursa! Did I say OUCH!!!! HMMMMMMMMMMMMM is not georges opening mothers day weekend?????? Lets just think of the lifting ahead, flowers corn tomatoes etc, etc. Not to mention the waitressing. Lets all hope for the 70%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On another note tho, I received the cutest postcard with my favorite, sheep from my secret pal hippo. It sure made my day I'll tell ya! Thanks Hippo!!

I did rip out quite a few rows on my felted bag. The overal color of the bag to be is dark grey but I had a few rows of orange and lime green. Came upon the greatest idea to put a punch needle work on the bag when I got it felted, but then of course the orange and green really would'nt work so rip, rip, rip! Now the thing will be all dark grey. The needlepunch will be a sheep, crow thing with of course no orange or lime in the thing. So bursites cooperating I can hopefully get some of it done this weekend. Right now the elbow is screeming at me so will quit for now.

Who ever before nov. EVER even heard of bursites????????? Not me I'll tell ya!!!!

crocheting disaster

well, did learn how to single crochet. Worked and worked and had to rip the darn thing out many times as on the end it would dip and weave. hmmmm, agravating but after many rip outs got the thing under control, crocheted 2 skeins of wool and was going to felt it and use it on a table as a pad. Well totally did not felt right at all. Felted in not lengthwise, so have a very long, skinny pad that ruffles!! Don't know what went wrong but possibly crocheting does not felt right???? Anyhow so much for that project BUT.......have decided I do like to crochet and have now learned how to double crochet so am attempting a scarf. I am hoping to have better luck on this!

Will post my questionaire for SP10 later. I am excited to be doing it as I haven't for quite some time. Think the last might have been SP5 or 6. I am already gathering goodies.

crocheting

since the last post I have learned how to crochet. Painfully I might add. I am making just a mat using single stich which I am then going to felt. Was going along ok but got about 10 rows and realized each end was a MESS! Was somehow adding and decreasing. Hmmmmmm, decided to rip them out, completely redid all the rows(the ends looked much better this time), but the 1st couple of rows that my friend mar started for me were curling and my bunch was completely straight......so........rip,rip, rip!! Yup the whole sebang!! Mar saw it today and it was not worth saving. I had somehow decreased stiches so my stuff was straight but pulled hers out of shape!!! Have now started AGAIN with a larger crochet hook, Mar said I was doing it to tight with the smaller hook. Did get it going and it looks much better! FINALLY!!!!! About that rug?????!!!!!!!!! Looks like much more practice before then!

Will take a picture but now I can't get piccasa to send it to the blog!! Always something!!!!

But on the brighter side of things Mar and I went to Brockport for the day. The weather wasn't great but managed to spend some money on some great jewlery. Sometimes buying, not making is a good thing huh??? When Mar was showing me how to crochet in Tim Hortens there was a man watching us. He finally said to me wouldn't it be easier to just buy it?????? Well I will let you know when I finish the mat!

Mar made a WONDERFUL doggie coat for my pepper. She weighs 9 lbs. Go to her blog MzMar to see her trials making that!!! BUT it fits PERFECTLY and the color is just marvelous! Will also show a picture of her with the coat on as soon as piccasa cooperates!

All for now, off to bed

Hi!

OK, its taken over a year to get back but here I am! I have been totally off for the year for some reason. No knitting, crafting, nothing! But recently I am back to enjoying doing it again. Have pulled out the felted bag I had started and am finishing that, plus working on squares for a afgan. My friend mar is going to teach me how to crochet! Will start learning with yarn but my ultimate hope is to crochet strips of fabric to make a rug! I WILL LEARN THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will post some pictures later this week. Tonight the girls from my work are taking me out to dinner for my YUCK!! 50th birthday. I can't even imagine how 50 years have passed, but they sure have!

Talk later!
